200 Common Core Videos Aligned To The Upcoming PARCC Standards
The Education system in the U.S. is receiving a "tune-up" in regard to its evaluation system. Common Core and PARCC standards are allowing states to align their curricula and incorporate the principles of standards-based education. While these new standards may seem daunting to pre-service teachers, it's important to remember that the change is necessary to stay competitive in a global economy. To aid in your understanding of these new standards, I have linked several websites that provide information on how to incorporate these standards into your future classroom.

Google Sites Tips and Tricks
If you need a quick, easy, and free website, look no further than Google Sites. This website creation program from Google provides a straightforward approach to website creation. There is no software to download, and teachers can update their websites from anywhere as long as they have access to the Internet. You will find screencasts that walk you though the basics of setting up a Google site underneath EDUCATIONAL SCREENCAST.

iPad 2 in Kindergarten Classrooms
I stumbled across a news story that discussed the implementation of iPad 2s in a Kindergarten classroom. A school system in Maine has decided to purchase iPad 2s for every Kindergartner. It's really no surprise that Maine, which is known famously for their 1-to-1 laptop program for their older students would be the first to experiment with a mass deployment of the iPad 2s in all of their Kindergarten classrooms.

iMovie Project
We have finally reached the point in the semester where we focus on creating an educational movie. The skills that we have been building will come together with this project. Your skills in iPhoto, GarageBand, and other programs can be used to make your movie. I have included several videos that will help you in your first movie-making endeavor. Remember to have fun! I can't wait to see your final products. Below you will find a link to a storyboard as well as a link to the iMovie page.
Top 5 Educational Applications
The use of technology in the classroom is becoming more and more commonplace. Here are my top five educational applications that not only engage students, but can make the life of a teacher more manageable.
5.) Picasa is a free photo editor and organization program. This powerful program allows teachers to edit and create slideshows for their classrooms.
4.) Evernote keeps you organized. You can use Evernote to store, sync, and retrieve documents. If you find a historic place, you can take a picture of it with your smartphone and post it to your Evernote page so that you can retrieve later.
3.) Google Docs is a free web-based document creation program. The creator of the document can determine if they want other people to edit the document. You can even edit the document together in real-time. Google docs allows you to create written documents, visual presentation programs, and spreadsheets.
2.) Prezi is a non-linear visual presentation program. This program allows you to zoom and rotate around grouped objects. Teachers can use this to draw connections between visual representations of abstract concepts.
1.) Dropbox is a free (2GB) online storage program that synchronizes across multiple computers. You can even share documents across platforms (Mac, Windows, and Linux). Teachers can set this up on their home computer and their teacher computer, and never have to worry about leaving lesson plans or materials at home again.
